Happy Christmas Everybody

All work to be finished before Christmas now complete. Drove to Oxford to deliver a mosaic at 7.00 in the morning. At one point the car slid on the ice and was entirely out of my control. I realised death was imminent, and felt sorry I was leaving the world quite so soon. Fortunately it slid back onto safer ground again, and within twenty minutes I was  meeting the client in a lay-by off the A40. A fox was curled up, dead, frozen and rather beautiful beside our rendezvous spot. He’d been spotted by a red kite, who swooped over us several times. I imagine he was keen for us to leave.

On the subject of leaving, we are about to enter a new decade. It is an appropriate time to reflect on how the mosaic community might productively move ahead. Does anyone have any strong opinions?  If so, let me know.

In the meantime, Happy Christmas everybody!

  1. What a relief that you emerged unscathed from this near-mishap. Scary how quickly we forget these brushes w/ “eternity” and move on to the next item on our to-do list. Of course, if we were always aware of the thin thread that (choose your preferred image) holds up the dangling sword or suspends us above the abyss, it could be immobilizing. Better to take a deep breath and renew gratitude that the adventure will apparently continue awhile. Enjoy an especially warm Christmas, Emma. As for a next decade of mosaic, I know you’ll be in the vanguard, but that conversation requires a glass or two, and I’m waiting for evening — much to do yet! Cheers, g
